Creatives get down to business

Published 15.11.07

The delegates at this year’s Business North West will be left with plenty to think about, as CIDS enlists the help of great creative minds to talk about the positive impact of creativity on the bottom line.

Business North West, the region’s foremost business-to-business event, will be taking over Manchester Central for two days this autumn. The 21st and 22nd of November will see the massive exhibition and conference return to the city, with 5000 visitors expected through the doors to network, to learn and to get down to business.

With the aim of flying the flag for the creative sectors, CIDS are presenting two events as part of Business North West as well as offering five discounted exhibition units creative businesses.

“Creativity and the Bottom Line” will be the matter at hand in the first of our new series of Loop events. In this special edition, held in the BEX Enterprise Theatre at Business North West, our chair will be joined by top dogs from two of the north’s heavyweight design and branding agencies – David Walter from Manchester’s Photolink and Johnathan Sands from Elmwood’s Leeds operation. Both creatives will be accompanied on the panel by a client from a non-creative business and between the top table we’ll get the nitty gritty on successful creative / client relationship and the positive effect the application of a bit of creative thinking can have on a company’s bottom line, regardless of what they do to make money. The session will be followed chance to network over some food and drinks with fellow attendees and members of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Orange’s Head of Product Design and Development, Clive Grinyer, will be taking to the main stage in BEX Innovation Lounge for a keynote presentation on the importance of good design in business. Clive’s former role as Director of Design of Innovation at the Design Council, where he communicated the benefits of design to business and government, along with his wealth of experience, has left him very well qualified for the job. Other keynote speakers in attendance include Innocent Drinks’ Head Of Creative Dan Germain and Chris Moss – Chairman of 118 118.

The thinking behind both The Loop and keynote presentations CIDS are hosting at Business North West is that they’ll inspire and excite all of the attendees – not just our creative companies. We want non-creative businesses, from widget makers to financial advisors, to realise the importance of good design and creative thinking in getting across their message and establish their brand… and, of course, how it can have a very attractive effect on the bottom line.

Business North West takes place at Manchester Central across the 21st and 22nd of November. It’s free to attend; just register online in advance.
