Published 03.12.08
Stockport Council and the University of Manchester Incubator Company (UMIC) have announced the creation of twenty-two new workspaces at their Broadstone Mill site in Reddish.
During the opening the Leader of Stockport Council, Councillor Dave Goddard, said: “New enterprises within the incubator will be given help with business planning, finding finance and research and development through links to the University of Manchester,” with the aim of the incubation centre being “to foster knowledge-based companies which will provide skilled, well-paid jobs for the local area.”
The project has involved a £700,000 investment through the Stockport Business Incubator Company, and has seen the 12,000 sq ft of Broadstone Mill transformed into a state-of-the-art workspace with a range of new business incubation facilities, aimed specifically at innovative new businesses in the knowledge economy. Tony Walker of UMIC added: “The incubator will be a seeding ground for Stockport entrepreneurs and businesses to create a vibrant future for the Reddish area.”
