Charity begins in the pub for HGA

Published 14.08.08

There are lots of equally understandable and worthwhile reasons for supporting one charity over another but when HGA Creative Communications was looking for one to support, we actually found it very easy to agree on a cause. They share our strong social conscience and one we all felt a personal connection to. As you can imagine we’re all very anxious to see the relationship continue.

Pub is The Hub is an initiative started by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales in 2001 and aims to give rural pubs a role at the heart of their local community. By combining other services that the community needs but couldn’t sustain separately, such as the Post Office, shop and providing internet and training facilities the charity gives a focal point to other wise rural areas.

The best part of our support - which we give in kind rather than cash – enables us to use our skills to produce a range of promotional material from video case studies, websites and events to help engage stakeholders and potential funders who could support the charity in the future.

Even our old PC’s that have outgrown the studio can be recycled to find new homes in some of the pubs where they provide IT training and web access for users who haven’t got access at home.

We’ve had some great feedback from the charity and expressions of thanks from people whose pubs have been given a new lease of life. One of the unseen benefits is that our thanks and recognition go all the way to the top – and so invitations to lunch at Clarence House with HRH and a private visit to Highgrove have been very gratefully received!!

John Longden, Director of Pub is the Hub says “Through Pub is the Hub we aim as an independent charity of volunteers to help and advise rural communities and pub licensees to make a positive impact within their local areas.”

“Without the engagement and support from HGA Creative and their staff we just would not be able to cope with the constant range of communications and information required by local authorities, government, pub owners and communities today.”

“Much of our success to date has been down to the clear guidance provided by HGA Creative and how fun they've made it”

Our commitment to Pub is The Hub is something that we all proud of and as thanks to the HGA team we’re planning to take everyone up to the Lake District to visit one of the featured pubs. Not only do we get to see what a difference some our support has made but we also get to sample the wonderful brewery in the back garden which, as well as the pub itself, is owned and ran by a co-operative, which some of the villagers make up.

HGA is an integrated agency with a personal approach. We generate engaging creative ideas for client brand experiences delivered with diligence and intelligence.
