On Tuesday, the regions creatives, businesses and key cultural organisations gathered to celebrate the official launch of creativetimes.co.uk.
Nearly 100 guests attended at Cube Gallery, among them were representatives from MDDA, Business Link North West, MMU and Northwest Vision and Media alongside CIDS staff past and present and the site’s developers, Fudge.
Director of CIDS, Lyn Barbour, introduced the new web resource as a “Principal focus for the creative hub in our region and beyond”.
Peter Saville addressed the audience recognising the website’s invaluable combination of a news source and a directory, “New media can transcend all boundaries and open up all types of possibilities. I doubt anyone needs to be told why creativetimes.co.uk is important.” Manchester’s Creative Director continued by highlighting the fact that “the more this community gets involved with the site the better a resource it will become”.
The launch was followed by a sell-out Loop event focussing on Peter Saville’s remarkable career; from being earmarked as a failure during his college day’s to gaining international admiration for his iconic Factory Records album covers.
