We Love The Web has been commissioned by Warp Films for the development of a digital content delivery system. “We’ve been fans of all things Warp since its inception 20 years ago, we’re hugely chuffed to be working with them, ” said Frank Fenten (Managing Director).
Essentially, it’s an eCommerce mothership that can be used by Warp Films and independent film companies for the sale of digital content (films for download), merchandise and DVDs. Using a customised version of our Lucre eCommerce software, Warp can create an unlimited number of sites. Each site can have its own branding, web address, sales gateway, press area and films: all managed from a single admin. area. This allows Warp to market its films very flexibly and also allows them to help independent film company sell films through their own mini-site and as part of the Warp Films Distribution umbrella.
The early work is in use now: a secure press area to allow journalists ‘iplayer’ style access to film screeners. It’s already being used for screenings of Le Donk&Scor-zay-zee (the new film from Shane Meadows and Paddy Considine) and All Tomorrow’s Parties: the film of the festival. This facility massively cuts the cost of mastering and distributing promo DVDs whilst giving journalists instant access to the films: no more waiting for the postman. Warp Films can even see who watched what, when.
The next phase brings the eCommerce facilities online and is due to go live later this month at www.warpfilmstore.com
