Mercy's 12 Angry Men
Mercy are going back to their roots and launching a new zine project, which with the help of ACE will commission 24 pieces of new work over the next 12 months.
Named 12 Angry Men, after Sidney Lumet’s seminal 1957 film, the Zine project looks to the film’s 12 characters to explore the roles literature, illustration and commentary play in modern creativity and thought.
Since 2002, Mercy have steadily developed a concrete output of genre defying events, literature and creativity, securing commissions from The Young Vic, Tate, The Bluecoat, Universal Records, Diesel and Domino Records. In 2009, this innovation was picked up by Arts Council England who have supported Mercy’s devotion to the development of live literature and its audiences.
Over the next 12 months, Mercy will be commissioning artists and writers to collaborate, creating new work based on 12 unique themes.
Any designers, illustrators, writers or commentators wishing to be considered should contact gemmagermains@mercyonline.co.uk for further information.
