Mercy and The Wizard of Oz reveal hidden homelessness for Crisis.

Liverpool/London creative agency Mercy have created three campaign videos to highlight the plight of hidden homeless people for Crisis, the national charity for single homeless people.
The videos can be seen over at Crisis’ campaign page.
The videos feature Dorothy, the Cowardly Lion and the Scarecrow facing up to different aspects of homelessness normally hidden from view. They play on the famous line from the film, ‘There’s no place like home.’
They were originally created as part of a wider Mercy re-brand of the Crisis Hidden Gigs campaign, and were used in the intermission of two recent secret Coldplay gigs in Liverpool and Newcastle.
Leslie Morphy, Chief Executive of Crisis, said: “We are always looking for new ways to bring to attention the hidden crisis of homeless. People stuck on friends’ and families’ floors and sofas or substandard B&Bs, or hidden out of sight in squats without even the basics of heating and light. We hope these videos make people think about the issue, and hopefully help us in our mission to end homelessness by donating or campaigning for change.”
Each video finds a familiar character dealing with a different aspect of homelessness – Dorothy is fleeing violence in a B&B, the Cowardly Lion is wearing out his welcome on a friend’s sofa and the Scarecrow is living in a squat, starved of any kind of human interaction.
Joe Bramall, MD of Mercy said: “It was an extremely open brief and we had a lot of fun making the videos, we’re overjoyed with the outcome and are pleased they will now be seen by a wider audience.”
