Last year AccessArt invited its audience to send us drawings of the kinds of objects which we take for granted, and yet which change over time, in style and appearance.
We had a huge response, receiving many hundreds of drawings by email and post. Museums across the country used the project as a stimulus for their workshops, including the Design Museum, and many many schools took part too. Like many AccessArt projects, it was a great enabler.
The drawings we received are beautiful and we are excited about collating them into a digital collection called the Visual Encyclopedia. We’re sure it will make a fascinating, lasting record of the objects which we chose to surround ourselves by in 2011, drawn by the people who value them. We’re sure too that it will inspire many more people to draw, and demonstrate the power of co-created content.
Please help us do justice to all the wonderful images sent from across the UK and consider making a small donation via Sponsume Crowd Funding, to help us co-create an inspirational visual encyclopedia. We’ve set up rewards in exchange for donations (any donation from £2 upwards would be very gratefully received), and you can find out more about these and how you can get involved here
*Donate £50 or more towards the project and receive two years Membership of AccessArt free of charge (worth £84).
And please forward this email to friends and colleagues if you think they’d like to join the project!
