We would love you to join us for the launch of a new movement – harnessing Manchester’s creative community to help a fantastic local charity, Wood Street Mission.

Photographer Andrew Brooks has worked with Wood Street – a charity dedicated to helping families in need in Manchester and Salford since 1869 – to restore historic images as well as capturing activity at the charity from present day.

The exhibition is the first in a series of events planned by the Wood Street’s Creative Friends, a group set up to raise awareness and funds for the charity among the creative, digital and cultural industry.

The launch event, on Thursday 29th July, from 6pm to 9pm is your opportunity to see the exhibition and to find out more about how you can be part of the movement.

Wood Street Mission was established in 1869 by members of Manchester’s business community that were committed to helping local people suffering at the hands of poverty.

In 2010 Wood Street Mission quietly continues to do amazing work, providing much-needed support to children and families in Manchester and Salford.

Wood Street’s Creative Friends are a collective of people from Manchester’s creative, cultural & digital community with a range of skills, including marketing, digital media, film-making, and photography.

Recognising that the charity was set-up by local business people looking to make a difference on their doorstep, we’re proud to help Wood Street Mission by providing our creative services free-of-charge, in turn helping them to raise awareness of the fantastic work that they do. To date, the group includes designer Trevor Johnson of Creative Lynx, photographer Andrew Brooks, Connect2Media’s Stephen Hey and Phil Birchenall and Paul Collins from The White Room.

The exhibition has been sponsored by kind donations from companies and individuals from the creative sector – including Astra Signs, Creative Lynx, Cuckoo Design, MC2, Ray Hanks, Ward Hadaway, Jo Nightingale Communications, The White Room, Copper Media and Spinningfields.
