** John Lewis teams up with Arts & Business to bring Fashion to Burnley! **
Arts & Business, one of HRH The Prince of Wales’ charities, is working alongside John Lewis to help the retailer engage with arts and culture in one of the Prince’s priority areas, Burnley, North Manchester.
John Lewis explored through Arts & Business how it could support the Charity’s work in the region within the areas of youth and education. John Lewis will deliver a bespoke project with Arts & Business, designed to engage with the highly regarded Burnley College and Burnley Council, in an exciting multi media catwalk show in November 2010.
The show will be an important part of the Town Centre Engagement 2010 programme, ‘LET’, which will host a number of events to energise the town centre. In the run up to the fashion show, John Lewis will work closely with the fashion students, to help them prepare and successfully deliver a professional fashion production. On the day, the John Lewis team will assist with the show to ensure the event runs smoothly.
Claire Barlow, Regional Manager at Arts and Business, said: “This partnership will help to bring another facet to the continued regeneration of Burnley. John Lewis has demonstrated a fantastic desire to develop its links with arts and culture and we are pleased that they have chosen to do this in Burnley with the support of Arts and Business. The expertise that the company can give to the students is invaluable and we know that this will be reflected in their work.”
Lucy Ramseyer, General Manager John Lewis at the Trafford Centre said: ‘John Lewis are delighted to be involved in this project, supporting Burnley’s youth and education through fashion whilst gaining a greater insight into the invaluable work of the Prince’s Charity.’
