TWO WHOLE DAYS OF DRY WEATHER. SUNSHINE EVEN. I wish that my cap locks could have got even bigger for the sunshine.

We are very very happy about this new development in the Scottish weather. So we celebrated this by having the ultimate festival day. We have Sundays off, so early afternoon was spent cramming in shows that we can’t see the rest of the week as normally we are tied up with tongue twisters and flyering our hearts out. So in a hungover state after Salsa the night before, we hung around Pleasence and dipped in and out of a few plays, a favourite being ‘2401 Objects’ by Analogue. Not only did they have a fantastic set but they put it to perfect to use, streching the idea to encompass every element of the show. Then after a few ciders we ambled back to the flat fully intending on cooking a roast but scrapped that, ate fajitas (more salsa) and went to play cricket/rounders/hit-the-damn-ball-and-run in the park which was bloody lovely. None of us are sportsmen and it goes without saying that the CloseKnit crew are far more at home sat in a big black box, but there comes a point when you just no longer want to be in a dark room, you want to be shouting obsceneties at fellow cast members when they don’t run fast enough, or throw the ball far enough, or generally don’t understand the very simple rules of ‘cricket/rounders/hit-the-damn-ball-and-run’…

So I think we are feeling far more relaxed. I’m writing this late afternoon, small wine break before veggie stir fry (we’ve all gone over to the hippy side of life in respect for the two veggies in the flat) and back off to Zoo Venues later this evening, probably followed by another heated game of Uno. How wild we are…

Yesterday however we washed the costumes, therefore today despite the lovely weather, the lack of rain, they hadn’t dried by half past one. So we still went on stage soggy. C’est la vie.

From Beth.
