Fringe Blog#15: Jo Stephenson - Can You Dig It? - Staple-itis
I think I have contracted staple-itis, or staplehand, a debilitating condition caused by constant stapling. It’s a bit like RSI except much worse.
Above is a photo of me stapling a piece of paper to our flyer to tell everyone that we have now had THREE four star reviews. Notice how I have all but covered up Dan with the piece of paper rather than covering up me. I have realised that Dan has tendency to staple things over me leaving himself on show so I am just trying to redress the balance.
We are in the final flurry of stapling as we only have three more shows to go and not that many tickets still to sell. However, we do have a zillion flyers left so we’re partly trying to get rid of them so we don’t have to carry them home. Luckily we have deliberately designed our flyers to be 100 per cent compostable – they are printed on recycled paper with biodegradeable, vegetable-based inks and can safely be put into any compost bin. So that is where they are bound if we don’t shift them.
I quite like the idea that the flyers from our show, which was inspired by our allotments, will actually end up on our allotments, helping to improve the soil. It is a fitting conclusion to all this silliness.
Can You Dig It? runs from Aug 5-29 (not Tuesdays), Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, 4pm. Book here or direct from the show’s website here
