Launched on 01 July 2010 Fresh Meat is a new voice for young architects in the north west of England. Set up by Ollier Smurthwaite, based in Castlefield, Manchester the new collective invites all northwest based architect practices under ten years old to apply to join, if accepted membership is free.

By bringing the best north west practices together Fresh Meat will showcase work, facilitate and develop collaboration to provide clients with a more cost effective and innovative solution for their needs, with the promise that design quality is assured.

Matt Ollier, co-founder of Fresh Meat and co-founder of Ollier Smurthwaite said: “Fresh Meat is all about young companies, like ours, working together and sharing ideas to provide our clients with the best possible solutions – being innovative, commercially astute and particularly focusing on how building design and construction can play its part in tackling the climate change. We aim to be the collective voice for young architects across the region.”

The first Fresh Meat collaboration will be an exhibition at the Cube Gallery, Manchester in the new year. Titled “Rethinking the City: Ideas for a self sufficient revolution” it will showcase Fresh Meat members work around the theme of reimagining Manchester’s urban centre providing innovative hypothetical proposals for real sites in the City, focusing on ideas to tackle climate change, reducing energy use and exploring the potential to create a self sufficient city.
