DMEX: An introduction to Social Media for media freelancers – 14th February, Central Manchester

Digital Media Exchange (DMEX) links the experience and skills of traditional media freelancers and employees with the new markets and innovation of the region’s best Digital Media companies. It offers unique opportunity for Digital Media businesses to work with, and learn from, established professionals from the television, radio and journalism / publishing industries, sharing skills and knowledge between both sectors.

As part of the programme, we are running a series of training events exploring some of the new & emerging digital media platforms.

This insight-filled half-day workshop is a beginner’s guide to using Social Media for media freelancers. It will focus on how Social Media is changing how we the use the web to communicate, collaborate and create. It’ll provide an insight into how Social Media & Web 2.0 can be harnessed in your day-to-day as TV, Radio and Journalism professionals.

After attending this workshop you will know:

- How to use social media to profile your work and build your online reputation

- How to move from creating content for a predominantly TV audience to developing multi-platform content optimised for viral promotion on the web through social networks and mobile phones

- The key social media platforms for a media professional

DMEX is funded by the Digital and Media Skills Programme, delivered by Vision+Media in partnership with Skillset, and supported by the Northwest Development Agency.

These events are being delivered by The White Room.
