Creative Friends of Wood Street are a new group set up to raise money and awareness for one of Manchester & Salford’s most amazing organisations – Wood Street Mission. And we’d love you to be part of it.

Our aim is to galvanise Manchester and Salford’s creative, digital and cultural industry to raise funds and awareness for Wood Street. People involved already include Trevor Johnson, photographer Andrew Brooks, as well as those from social media, events, video games and education.

Wood Street Mission was established in 1869 by members of Manchester’s business community that were committed to helping local people suffering at the hands of poverty. By providing essential children’s clothes and equipment, school uniforms, books, Easter eggs and Christmas toys and food to those living below the poverty line they provide a vital service.

So how can you help?

To launch the group we are holding an exhibition by esteemed Manchester photographer Andrew Brooks in Spinningfields from Friday 30th July – Sunday 1st August – ‘Life in a day’. The exhibition documents a day in the life of Wood Street Mission, and we think it’s beautiful. We are looking for people and companies to get involved and ‘sponsor’ images so we can cover the costs of putting the event on.

Sponsoring an image will cost just £50.

Yes – we want your cash, but in return you will get your logo by one of the images plus our undying thanks. Our priority is funds for Wood Street but the money raised will help us cover the minor costs for the exhibition with everything else going straight into the pot for WSM.

We don’t want much but truly believe that, with the talent we have in Manchester, a few people giving a little of their time could make a massive difference to Wood Street Mission.
