Creative Community urged to donate to families in need this Christmas

Manchester’s creative community are being urged to help support a local charity by making small donations of gifts for families living in poverty the Christmas.
Manchester’s Wood Street Mission have been helping families living in poverty since 1869 and the work they did then goes on today.
Every year Wood Street run a Christmas Project providing new presents to well over 3,000 children living below the poverty line. This year they are seeking donations of gifts, especially those for girls aged between 8 and 10. Gifts and toys should be new and not expensive, around £10 value.
If you can help please contact Stephen Hey (part of the Wood Street’s Creative Friends collective) who will arrange a collection or drop items off at 26 Wood Street (just off Deansgate) personally.
Earlier this year, Wood Street’s Creative Friends organised a pop-up exhibition to raise funds for the charity, featuring the work of photographer Andrew Brooks. The group, made up from high profile creatives across the city, will be announcing more activities to support the charity early in 2011.
