celebrate the city! with the manchester modernist society
In October 2009, the new manchester modernist society, with the support of Manchester City Council, published the first of a series of postcards celebrating the modern design heritage of the City of Manchester; featuring images sourced from the city archives.
In order to celebrate and raise awareness of the architectural icons and heroes of Manchester – such as the CIS Tower, The Toastrack , Kendall Milne, Edwin Lutyens and Mitzi Cunliffe, over 10,000 of these postcards are being distributed freely to the public, at information points such as the Central Library, Tourist Information Centre, the Manchester Museum, Whitworth Art Gallery,Victoria Baths and the Greater Manchester Transport Museum.
This has been followed by the publication of a series of posters, available directly from the Manchester Modernist Society at: http://www.manchestermodernistsociety.org/publications.html
