Are you a Young Design Entrepreneur?

As part of ‘Young Creative Entrepreneur’ (YCE) programme, the British Council, in partnership with the Cultural Leadership Foundation, has launched a new ‘UK Young Design Entrepreneur’ (UKYDE) Award. Aimed at those working in the design industry and aged between 25 and 35, the idea of the scheme is to recognize the potential of an individual to be a future leader of the sector in the UK or even internationally.

The winner and two runners-up will visit India in early 2009 and will be given the chance to learn more about India’s design industry, meeting leading figures, understanding the dynamics of the sector, and finding out more about how business is done there.

UKYDE is one of nine awards across communications, design, fashion, interactive, music, performing arts, publishing, screen and visual arts sectors, ensuring that all of the creative industries are covered by the YCE programme. These awards are being developed by the British Council with support from NESTA, the Cultural Leadership Programme, trade associations and professional bodies within the creative sector.
