Animating Viz! With Alex Collier

Calling all animators, cartoonists, artists, writers, comic book fans and comedy enthusiasts…
Get yourself over to Barnsley Digital Media Centre for an entertaining and inspiring evening about how to turn a cult comic into entertaining animation.
Meet Alex Collier – former co-editor of Viz now turned animator extraordinaire.
Viz is a popular comic for adults, which has been running since 1979, with surreal humour, satire, black comedy and iconic characters such as Roger Mellie, the Man on the Telly, Johnny Fartpants and Sid the Sexist.
Having already produced and directed animations with both Vic Reeves and Ross Noble for the BBC, Alex Collier has teamed up with Baby Cow Animation to return to Viz, and animate the famous comic for Channel Four’s online ‘Comedy Blap’ scheme.
A series of three eight minute shorts are feverishly being produced at this very moment by a small army of the UK’s best animators, directed by Collier and Baby Cow’s Tim Searle (Have I Got News For You title sequences, I am Not an Animal).
Featuring the voice talents of Gavin Webster, Sarah Millican, and Steve Coogan.
Also starring Simon Greenall, who is best know as the Geordie from Alan Partridge and for doing the voice of that meercat from the famous advert.
The event may contain strong language – not for the easily offended! For adults 18 years and over.
Tickets are only £6 please book in advance at http://getanimatedindec.eventbrite.co.uk/
