A 40 metre Sculpture for the South Yorkshire Region

THE MAN OF STEEL GATEWAY SCULPTURE FACTS:
40 metres high (twice the height of the Angel of the North)
Made from stainless steel
Stand on a former landfill site in an area of regeneration, overlooking the M1, on the Rotherham border with Sheffield.
Internal staircase and viewing platform
Become an iconic gateway to the region and a catalyst for future development in the Sheffield City Region.
An educational pack will be available to all schools in the area, explaining the story behind Man of Steel, the industrial history of the region and the engineering science behind the project itself. It will also cover the transition of conventional industries in the late 20th century and the technology industries moving in to the region, such as Boeing, Seimens, Rolls Royce, etc.
SUPPORT:
Support for the project includes Sheffield Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI), Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council (RMBC), Sheffield Forgemasters, Tool and Steel Products, MIS Group, and others. The location will be provided by Waste Recycling Group (WRG).
