Opening on Bonfire Night, ‘The Doers, The Drifters & The Dreamers’ is sure to send sparks through the Mill. Running through the whole weekend and then beyond, the launch for this exhibition is looking promising, highlights from the scheduled events include:
Friday 5th November:
7.30pm Opening of the weekend with performance by Phil Stanier
8pm Opening of the gallery exhibition
8.30pm Aiden Jolly playing live in the gallery space
Saturday 6th November:
12 – 6pm Gallery exhibition will be open with food available in the bar area from 4.30pm onwards.
2- 4pm Workshops including bread baking with Ultimate Holding Company and song writing with Claire Mooney. There will also be an afternoon knitting circle with ArtYarn where the skillful Kings Arms Knitters will demonstrate some fancy stitches.
4.30-6.30pm Live Radio show with Pete Harrison and a selection of music contributed by participating artists and city residents in response to the themes of the weekend.
8pm Screening of film, ‘The Golden Rule’ by FORT
9pm Performance Lecture/ drift by David Williams
10-12pm Live music courtesy of Juneau Brothers & the The Grubby Mitts
The exhibition itself is focused on presenting a selection of local and international artists working in installation, video, text, performance and sound, ‘The Doers, The Drifters & The Dreamers’ poetically explores themes of labour, protest, pleasure and play.
Alongside an exhibition of works, the festival invites audiences to actively participate in a collection of skills workshops, listen to a live radio show, view a series of performative lectures and stay for a night of music and celebration.
Curated by Laura Mansfield and Swen Steinhauser and featuring works from 13 renowned artists, make sure you come down and have a look on its launch weekend 5th November through till the 7th November.
