Individual Giving

Individual Giving is a vital source of revenue for the arts, our research shows that in 2008/09 UK-based cultural organisations raised £363m from individuals. This full-day seminar will be led by Philip Spedding , Senior Manager, International&Individual Giving.

The seminar will cover the following topics:-

• Current levels of individual giving to the Arts

• Tax and giving (i.e. what is the legal definition of a donation, Gift Aid – both for individuals and companies, Gift of Shares, Payroll Giving, receiving a donation versus charging for admission etc.)

• How the “8 Steps of Fundraising” work in Individual Giving

• Giving to the Arts&giving to the wider charity sector

• The future of Individual Giving (venture philanthropy, donor advised funds etc)

• The growing network of other organisations involved in philanthropy (The Giving Campaign, Philanthropy UK, New Philanthropy Capital et al)

The course begins at 10am, finishing at 4pm, lunch is included.
