Jessica Longmore is a Manchester based artist whose current focus is the idea of the studio as a container; an environment which acts as a ‘former’ in the production of work. Jessica’s practice involves a series of appropriate gestures; instinctive sculptural responses to the psychology of particular spaces.
This First Step display showcases the changes she made to this line of investigation whilst on residency at 501 Arts Space in Chongqing, China. During her time there Jessica continued her project Objects for a Studio, spending a single day making work in other artists’ studios, using only the objects she found and documenting the day with a single photograph.
