Christmas at the Mill 2008: A contemporary Christmas gift market featuring ceramics, jewellery, furniture, painting, photography&textiles

Islington Mill ushers in yuletide with its seasonal fair, Christmas At The Mill. On this special night, you can meet the artists who work at the mill, find out more about their crafts and – most importantly – buy their wares. Much of the work on display will include unique and limited edition pieces, only available on the night.

Crafts and art on show over two floors of the Mill will include ceramics, jewellery, furniture, painting, fine art photography and textiles. With such an array on offer, hand-made by the cream of North West talent, there‘s something to appeal to everyone’s taste.

Festive food and mulled wine will be available too, alongside seasonal sounds from members of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra to add to the festive cheer.

In recent times, Islington Mill has been noted for it’s diverse array of alternative music and arts events, however it has for many years been an emerging centre for both creative industries and the artistic community of Salford and Manchester. With four and half floors of studio spaces, housing over 40 creative enterprises, it’s community encompasses everything from sculpture to screenwriting, screen-printing to ceramics and many other disciplines too.

• * * The Mill will also be launching it’s own Shop at 142 Chapel St on the very same day. Running from from the 27th November right through to Christmas, the store will be home to work from all the artists and makers featured at the selling event as well as a complementary selection of work from around the country.
