After his recent highly successful “Off the Wall” exhibition at the Neoartists Gallery in Bolton, the Art Lounge is pleased to announce that Salford born urban artist Davlo will be showcasing his unique and stimulating work at its gallery in New Mills in February 2012.
The exhibition entitled “Call That Art?” offers a rare opportunity to view paintings, prints, collages and 3D pieces of this genre that seldom make their way into gallery space. Challenging aspects of modern living and society and indeed some commonly held views about what art is -
the exhibition promises a response to issues such as ageing, multiculturalism, the third world, celebrity and consumerism, with some “finger pointing” and a good deal of humour.
Davlo’s work can be found in private collections in the UK and abroad, including, and perhaps most notably, Vivienne Westwood, who described a piece depicting Malcolm McLaren as “ touching and somewhat poetic”.
A preview evening is to be held on Thursday 9th February and the exhibition will then run to Sunday 25th March.
And keen eyed art enthusiasts may well be able to pick up a piece for free as during the preview week Davlo will be leaving a limited number of his works around the New Mills town centre area.
