WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT? Tsang Kin-Wah
Chinese Arts Centre is proud to present What are you looking at? - the first UK solo exhibition by acclaimed text installation artist Tsang Kin-Wah. The exhibition features two site-specific text installations which highlight hidden or avoided facts about our relationships with each other and to the world around us.
Combining glossy transparent cut out text with sound clips from Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 horror film The Shining, Tsang’s minimal text installation in the main gallery aims to expose the hidden danger and violence lurking in our surroundings.
In the private interior space of the toilets Tsang presents I Love U. a delicate wallpaper pattern which is actually comprised of controversial phrases in both English and Chinese revealing the artist's observations of modern relationships
