Ever wondered where you could find an accessible, adult-friendly course on the latest medical research? Why not try Frontiers of medicine where leading researchers from Manchester University give highly informed insights into recent breakthroughs in medicine?* Want to work with an experienced practitioner to learn how to write scripts for comedy – or get started in stand-up? How about Jenny Roche’s Writing Situation Comedy? Would you like to meet with others to analyse and discuss the work of Hitchcock? Maybe "Monsters to Madmen- An Introduction to the Horror Movie" would suit you. Perhaps you want to learn how to read music – or Latin? There are courses for both. All these – and much more – are available in the current programme of Courses for the Public at the University of Manchester.
We offer a varied and changing programme across a range of disciplines: art and architecture, history and archaeology, film and media, literature and language, music, philosophy and religion, psychology and self-development, science, social and political studies. All our courses are delivered by scholars, researchers and experienced practitioners from the University and elsewhere, giving access to the latest development and good practice in their field.
The emphasis is on learning for pleasure – and for personal or professional development – in a friendly and stimulating environment.
In addition to day and evening courses which run for between 6 and 12 weekly sessions, we also offer day-schools and short study visits. We are also happy to negotiate tailor-made courses for interested groups and organisations.
Our programme changes every term so for full and up-to-date listings – or to request a brochure – please see our website: www.manchester.ac.uk/coursespublic
