Design Top Five #2: Young

The Creative Times series on contemporary design continues in idiosyncratic style, as Pete Jarvis and Geth Vaughan of Young design studio pick five of their favourite things.
1. Parfait script by Maximiliano Sproviero
We get through our fair share of script typefaces, and are always looking out for new releases in this genre. This one, released in 2010, has a generous and gorgeous offering of alternative characters and ornaments. Maximiliano Sproviero

2. Day & Night, directed by Teddy Newton
Many people will have seen this short Pixar animation (which is being shown before Toy Story 3) on blogs, but it’s even better at the cinema in 3D. It’s a simple idea, and its visual metaphors can be universally enjoyed. Day & Night
3. Copic markers
Copic recently became a sponsor of one of our projects. We draw every day, and have gone through a lot of marker pens – and although we are biased, they’re probably the best ones we use. They refil, the nibs are replaceable, and the lines it makes are consistent. copicmarker.com
4. Yooouuutuuube.com by David Kraftsow
We stumbled on this site. It’s an hypnotic way of displaying Youtube videos. That’s it. Looks good with some Steamboat Willie. www.yooouuutuuube.com
5. Paper clips at recyclechicken.com
Not strictly design – more of a design concept. A simple and economic way of keeping your desk tidy. www.recyclechicken.com
